The short version. FileX converts your files on your own computer. We never receive your files, their names, or your conversion history. We keep the little we need to run your account and your license: your e-mail address, when your trial started, and your purchase. We do not run ads, and we do not sell data. This website uses Google Analytics to count visits; the app does not.
What we collect

What we do not collect
- Your files, their names, or what you convert. Conversion happens on your computer.
- Your conversion history. It stays in a file on your own computer.
- Advertising data. Neither the app nor this website uses advertising trackers.
- Analytics from the app. The app sends no usage analytics. Only this website uses analytics (see Who we share it with).
How we use it, and why
- To provide FileX (account, trial, license): this is needed to perform our contract with you.
- To take and prove payment, and meet tax and accounting rules: a legal obligation.
- To keep FileX secure and stop abuse, for example repeated trials or shared keys: our legitimate interest.
- To answer you when you contact us.
We send you e-mails that the service needs, such as the confirmation link, password reset codes and your license key. We do not send marketing e-mail unless you ask for it.
Who we share it with
We use a few providers to run FileX. They process data for us under their own terms and privacy policies:

We do not sell your data. We may disclose it if the law requires, or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
Where it is processed
Our providers may process data in countries other than yours, including outside the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Account and license data: for as long as your account exists.
- Payment and tax records: as long as the law requires, which is often several years.
- Technical logs and payment notifications: for a limited period, then deleted.
When you delete your account we remove your account and license records, except what we must keep by law. Deleting your account ends your license, so we ask you to be sure first.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to give you a copy of your data, correct it, delete it, limit or object to how we use it, or move it to another service. You can also withdraw any consent you gave. To use these rights write to [support e-mail address]. We will answer within the time the law sets, usually one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
What stays on your computer
The app saves a few things on your computer: your settings and presets, your conversion history, and a sign-in token (never your password) that keeps you signed in. You can remove them by deleting FileX's data folder. This website itself sets no cookies, but Google Analytics sets its own analytics cookies when you visit (see Who we share it with).
Security
We protect your data with measures suited to the risk: encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and strict access rules on the database so each account can see only its own records. No system is perfectly secure, so please choose a strong, unique password.
Children
FileX is not meant for people under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has given us data, tell us and we will delete it.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the date at the top and, for important changes, tell you in the app or by e-mail.
